This annual jazz festival continues with singer Marlena Shaw, backed by the all-female Diva Jazz Orchestra, through Sept. 16. Then an entity called the Young Lions Quintet, featuring Stacy Dillard on saxophones, appears on Sept. 17, and the singer Charenee Wade joins the Aaron Diehl Trio on Sept. 18. On Sept. 19 and 20 there will be a quintet jointly led by two alto saxophonists: Sharel Cassity, a thirtysomething member of the Diva Jazz Orchestra, and Sonny Fortune, an eminent force in his early 70s.

Guggenheim Museum: ‘Rineke Dijkstra: A Retrospective’

Through Oct. 8

A retrospective, a selection of some 70 large color photographs and five videos reflect this 53-year-old Dutch artist’s faith in the power of two things: youth and the camera. Her ability to coax out the emotional subtleties and raw energy that are special to children, adolescents and young adults, with grave, revelatory and sometimes ecstatic results, is reflected in works that at their best effortlessly balance the formality of traditional portrait painting with the immediacy of real life.

Northfork and Hampton Region Wines Tours on Long Island

Long Island Limousine by Broward offers organized wine tour to the vineyards of Long Island Wine Country in the North Fork & The Hamptons Region. About 100 miles (160 kilometres) east of New York City, the Long Island separates into the North Fork and a South Fork known as The Hamptons, with the Atlantic Ocean on the south, Great Peconic Bay separating the two forks, and Long Island Sound to the north. These massive bodies of water moderate the temperature, creating a long growing season and ideal conditions for robust merlots, full-bodied chardonnays, and other European classics.

We can organize tours to Pindar Winery, Duckwalk North, Laurel Lakes Vineyards, Opsrey's Dominion, Pugliese, Palmer, Martha Clara and Jamesport Vineyards. These Vinyards are located within the The Long Island AVA which is an American Viticultural Area encompassing Nassau and Suffolk counties of New York, including the smaller offshore islands in those counties. The AVA was established in 2001, over 15 years after two smaller AVAs were created at the eastern end of Long Island. The Long Island AVA designation was promoted as a benefit for some wineries located just outside the two smaller AVAs and for wineries that wanted to create wines that use blends from vineyards in different parts of the island. It was also developed and promoted as a consumer protection of the Long Island name; AVAs require that a minimum of 85% of the fruit used in the designated wine is grown within the borders of the region. The "Long Island" AVA was authored by veteran Long Island winemaker Richard Olsen-Harbich who also authored the "The Hamptons, Long Island" and "North Fork of Long Island" AVAs in the mid-1980s. Vineyards on Long Island benefit from the moderating influence of the Atlantic Ocean, Long Island Sound, and Peconic Bay on the local climate.

Allman Brothers / Santana - July 24, 2012

The Allman Brothers and Santana - Two legendary groups who have influenced generations of blues rockers and jam bands are teaming up to share the stage at Jones Beach!

“It is a delight and an honor to finally share the stage, and the music, with Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and The Allman Brothers Band,” says Carlos Santana. “This is something that we’ve hoped to make happen for many years.” These special concerts follow the first leg of U.S. dates on Santana’s Shape Shifter Tour 2012. Previously, Santana and The Allman Brothers have only intersected at major festivals. On touring together, Gregg Allman says, “We’ve all looked forward to doing this for a very long time.” The Allman Brothers Band line-up includes Gregg Allman (vocals and keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums, tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass), and Marc Quinones (congas and percussion). Earlier this year, the group was honored with a special GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award.

Huey Lewis / Joe Cocker - July 29, 2012

Joe Cocker first appeared on television on the Ed Sullivan show in 1969 and has had hit records in every decade since then. He also has recorded several platinum albums, was filmed singing singing in front of thousands at Woodstock, has sung movie theme songs and has performed before royalty and heads of state. Cocker will be touring in support of his 21st studio album, Hard Knocks. Produced by Matt Serletic (Matchbox 20, Carlos Santana), Hard Knocks features nine new songs as well as a cover of the Dixie Chicks’ “I Hope”. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with songs being mixed by Chris Lord-Alge and mastered by Bob Ludwig. “I don’t know what you would call this album: ‘rock/pop’?” Cocker said in a press release. “It’s a little more pop than I’ve been into for quite a while so it would scare me sometimes. I would do the basic tracks and then Matt would go away and do some of these overdubs and he had all these electronic things on there. It was sometimes like, ‘Oh, my god!’. But I wanted to work with Matt very much. And I always knew what kind of record we would be making.”

Huey Lewis and the News is known for the group’s contagious brand of straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll. They have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and carried the banner as the quintessential American rock band. In addition, their “Power Of Love,” from the 1985 hit film “Back To The Future,” which went all the way to Number 1 on Billboard’s singles chart, was nominated for an Academy Award. The News features saxophonist Johnny Colla, drummer Bill Gibson, guitarist Stef Burns, keyboardist Sean Hopper, and bassist John Pierce.

Broward Limousine, one of the largest transportation companies on Long Island took delivery of a new 50 passenger Limo/Party Bus this week. The new bus was manufactured by Tiffany Coaches in California features three distinct seating configurations. It includes traditional coach seating, and three "conversation pits", (or dinette's) for the ultimate in flexibility that allows for up to 16 people to have a private conversations away from the rest of your group. This new bus also features walnut wood floors and tables which provide for a rich and elegant aura. As with all Broward Limousine vehicles, the bus has an array of entertainment options such as fiber optic, laser and strobe lighting; Eight flat screen televisions (including the 42" Plasma on the back and front wall for all to see); and an incredible stereo system featuring four 12" Kicker sub-woofers.


This latest vehicle is part of an initiative to add approximately 17 vehicle to the Broward Limousine Fleet through the end of May to augment the 60-vehicle fleet, said Robert MacDonald, President of Broward Limousine
