In an innovative move, the NHL announced that Yankee Stadium will play host for for the Coors Light NHL Stadium series. Three three local hockey franchises in New York — the Rangers, Devils and Islanders will ”battle it out” on the ice and includes four outdoor games. On January 26, the Rangers are set to compete with the Devils in a matinee stadium game at famed Yankee Stadium and then the Rangers will face off with the Islanders at a night game on Jan 29, 2014.
“To take this wonderful, iconic venue and do something that’s never been done in it before, play hockey games, we thought would be a lot of fun,” commissioner Gary Bettman said Thursday during the official announcement at Yankee Stadium.
